A database you can rely on! Revolver’s database is designed to be rock-solid.
Since the launch of Revolver 8 we use PostgreSQL. It's an open-source database system, that is considered to be one of the most modern, most powerful and most reliable systems on the market. It is used by many large companies e.g. Skype.
Only if everybody works with the same data there can be real team work. This is easy to realise with Revolver. The server saves all data centrally and the clients access it.
To install Revolver in the network is really easy. You just start the server with a click, afterwards the clients sign right on. Even the administration is a piece of cake. There is hardly anything to do apart from the user administration.
Through a special cross-platform technology the Revolver-client is able to find the server automatically most of the times. That way the installation becomes even easier.
The Revolver server can either run on one of the workstations* or on an extra computer. In a lot of cases a older computer is sufficient as server. The server requires Windows or Mac OS. So do the clients.
* recommended up to 5 clients
Mac and Windows computers work hand in hand with Revolver. You will not notice the different systems. Revolver works with the cross-platform unicode signs.
This technology keeps answertimes short even with big data volume. That is why Revolver can be used in the internet without it s speed reducing.
The number of existing workstation licences defines how many users can work at the server at the same time. The licences are not bound to a single user. You can define as many users and install the Revolver client on as many computers as you like. The server function in Revolver is free! No need to buy an expensive server software.
The access via internet is almost as fast as in your local network. Thanks to a special technology Revolver only sends small data volume through the net that way the transmission speed is not effected.
Working in the internet you will have the same feature set as in your local network. You use the regular Revolver client (access via webbrowser is not possible).
The connection to the server is always encrypted (bank standard). A “read-along” by others is impossible.
If you own an IP address you need nothing further. If not use the free “DynDNS” service to make your server reachable.
The update procedure is a huge problem for many manufacturers of business software. Especially when there are client-specific customizations, updates mean a lot of hand work and complicated imports – with classical solutions as well as web based solutions. With some vendors clients can not proceed the updates themselves but a vendor’s technician has to interfere each time.
To proceed an update for Revolver is very easy: you just download the newest version of the program, install it as usual, start Revolver – done! Normally there are no further steps necessary. You can proceed the update completely on your own.
Customization you did in the design mode will not be overwritten by an update. An elaborate technology guarantees that your customizations remain.
