Interview with the advertising agency “signalfeuer”

With Revolver from day one

Signalfeuer

You worked together in an advertising agency in the for ten years. Did you use Revolver?

Leif Langsdorf: No, a different agency software program was used. Thankfully, we only had to record our hours in the program. But we did notice how inflexible and time-consuming the individual working steps were for our colleagues. Lots of working steps kept having to be restarted. All of the workflows didn’t seem to be ideal.

Did you already know about Revolver at the time?

Dennis Nicolai: We extensively researched agency software and tested several solutions too; probably between ten and fifteen products. We only had to take a quick look at most of them to decide against them. We quickly focused on Revolver – not least because of the visuals. As screen designers, we were immediately impressed by the look & feel of the software.

Were you able to convince your previous employer about Revolver?

Langsdorf: Unfortunately not. The management board decided against the software.

You then started your own agency in Butzbach and started using Revolver straight away?

Nicolai: When we founded our company, we knew just how important it is to keep information together in a structured way and to have a functioning workflow. Our decision to organize our business with Revolver was already made before setting the company up at the end of 2007.

You made the decision just at the right time; version 7 was in the making...

Nicolai: We downloaded the Beta of version 7.0 as a demo at the time. Thankfully you can test the software without any major restrictions, and we took full of advantage of this. We then bought two licenses in April 2008.

And then directly started working with Revolver?

Langsdorf: The introduction did not take much more than a week. It’s great that you can start working with the system very quickly. You just download it, and practically use it “out of the box”.

You didn’t make any cutomizing then?

Langsdorf: The alignments were few and far between and were limited to the print templates and individual fields. However, just the feeling that you can adjust everything yourself is a good thing – you don’t feel as if you are at the mercy of the software.

What do you expect from future Revolver versions?

Nicolai: There are a few functions we would like to have. The performance for certain processes could be optimized and we would love the possibility to synchronize the software with iCal and the address book. We are planning to issue a few of our own reports with the new report functions from Revolver 7.1 and we are looking forward to seeing how Revolver will develop. We believe that it was certainly worth counting on Revolver.
